Rodent control for roof rats and mice

Northridge Pest Control traps, removes and keeps out roof rats and house mice for homes across Dallas, Plano, Frisco and Richardson.

How do roof rats get into Dallas homes?

Roof rats are climbers. They run along fences, power lines and tree limbs that touch the roof, then slip in through gaps at the roofline, soffit returns, plumbing vents and AC line chases. A rat needs a gap about the size of a quarter, and a mouse needs one the size of a dime. Most homeowners first hear them in the attic or walls at night.

Poison alone leaves rodents dying in the walls. We trap in the attic and along runways, then seal every entry point we find with metal mesh, sealant and hardware cloth so new rodents cannot follow. We come back to check and reset traps until the activity stops, and tell you if insulation or wiring needs attention.

How do I keep rodents out after treatment?

Trim tree limbs at least six feet back from the roof, keep pet food and bird seed in sealed bins, and store firewood off the ground and away from the house. Call us if you hear new activity, since a new gap can open after storm damage or roof work.
